About

The Star City project team was led by Mr. George Lordos, PhD Candidate in the Engineering Systems Laboratory, Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Dr. Alexandros Lordos, from the Department of Psychology at the University of Cyprus. The two Lordos siblings have shared a passion for Space and Astronomy since their adolescence in the 1980s, when they helped to establish the Astronomy Club at their local school in Nicosia, Cyprus. They have been drawing inspiration for their work from leading thinkers and visionaries of space exploration and colonization, most notably Carl Sagan, Isaac Asimov and Kim Stanley Robinson.

The Delta Architects team, which was responsible for architectural design studies, drawings and all renderings for Star City, included lead architects Nikos Papapanousis and Tatiana Kouppa, and their associates Efi Koutsaftaki, Aliki Noula, Mary Psaradaki, Gregoria Triantafyllou and Aris Michailidis.

"Star City" received the 1st Place award in The Mars Colony Prize Design Contest at the 22nd Annual International Mars Society Convention in Los Angeles on October 19th, 2019. More information on the Mars Society and the award can be found on www.marssociety.org.
